What are Hemorrhoids?

To put it simple hemorrhoids, often called piles are a pain it the butt. They are swollen and inflamed veins in your anus and rectum, and there are two kind of them, internal and external. Due to the slow blood circulation veins are filling with blood and dilate causing bluish-red lumps or knots to appear.

About 50% of western population (US, Europe) will sometimes in their life suffer anal itching, bleeding and pain asociated with hemorrhoids.They are painful, itching and bleeding, they embarrass you and nobody takes it seriously. 

What you should also know is that they can retreat when treated with creams or similar topical remedies, but will always return if you do not treat the cause of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids stop you from eating what you like, as a matter of fact many of your favorite foods are evry likely to cause hemorrhoids flare up so you will ahve to avoid them. Some of the simple, everyday things like going to the bathroom will become nightmare.

You can't tell your friends (sometimes even your family) because you'll be subject to jokes and ridicule. And to makes things worse, nobody understands that you have just been through very painful, serious and costly operation (if that is how you decide to deal with this condition).

However existence of hemorrhoid knots or cushions by them self doesn't have to mean that you have to get them, cushions are most often soft and are not causing any problems. Only when those cushions become inflamed, enlarged and start to itch, burn and be painful can we consider it as the first hemorrhoid symptoms.
