Bowel habits
- Go as soon as you feel the urge, or as soon as possible, don't delay, your body absorbs water from the stool making it harder
and harder.
- Try to avoid excessive straining during bowel movement, just relax and let it kind of drop out by itself, don't try to rush
things, take your time.
- Don't read during bowel movement, do what needs to be done and get out, reading and sitting for to long on the toilet is one
of the worst mistakes you can make. Prolonged sitting causes unnecessary pressure on your hemorrhoids and makes condition even
worse.
- Try to train yourself to have regular bowel movements, which ever time of the day is best for you, usually the best time is in
the morning, right after breakfast and while you are at your home, where you can use your shower or bidet to rinse.
- Avoid using toilet paper, it can cause further irritation, use moist wipes like Tucks, or you can use baby pads, pre-moistened
pads are excellent when you are away from home, always carry a pack with you, even better is to use shower or bidet to rinse, be gentle
but thorough. Make sure to use gentle soaps, to avoid further irritation.
- Wear cotton underwear, it wicks away moisture, and does not irritate the skin.
- Use talc powder, to soothe irritation, and help with moisture control.
- Exercise regularly, 3 to 5 times per week, a brisk 20 - 30 minute walk will significantly improve your bowel
movement.
Ok, now that you are treating causes of hemorrhoids, it is time to deal with hemorrhoid symptoms, and try to shrink hemorrhoids at the same
time.
Fast acting home treatment for hemorrhoids or dealing with symptoms
Along with treating causes, you'll also need to treat the hemorrhoid symptoms.
- Take sitz baths (sitting in warm water) 3 - 4 times per day, more if needed, for 15 - 20 minutes at time,
- Apply ice packs to relieve pain and itching, 10 - 15 minutes at time, several times per day, be careful not to apply ice packs
to naked skin as it could cause frostbite, place clean, cotton cloth to the naked skin first. DO NOT apply cooling gels, or ointments
used for pain relieving, it will cause further irritation, pain and burning.
- Use anti-inflammatory hemorrhoids ointments, like Zenmed Ziro or Anusol HC-1 ointment (contains 1% hydrocortisone) to reduce
itching, burning and swelling, and to shrink hemorrhoids, if you have a sudden hemorrhoids flare up and there is no pharmacy anywhere
near you, use baby cream, petroleum jelly, aloe vera gel or just about any other cream or ointment used to soothe, protect and repair
skin, be careful not to apply anything that might irritate already sensitive area.
How to use: first cleanse the affected area with mild soap and warm water. Make sure to apply just enough to cover
sensitive, irritated area. Do not apply to much, or you will have uncomfortable, wet feeling in your underwear. If used instead of
suppositories and applied to the anal canal, insert with a pile pipe or finger. Best pile pipes are the ones with holes on the sides as well
as at the end. Lubricate the pipe before the insertion.
- Use suppositories like Anusol Hemorrhoidal suppositories (similar to ointment but more suitable for internal discomfort and
swelling), besides anti-inflammatory effect suppositories also lubricate colon, making stool passing much easier, which prevents rectal
bleeding and helps with healing raptures in colon caused by hard stool.
How to use: insert suppository every time after bowel movement or as directed, do not push to high up. If suppository is
cold and hard, dip it briefly in warm water to loosen up, if to soft put it in cold water or refrigerator shortly before use. Not recommended
during hemorrhoids bleeding or if the area is irritated. If you miss a dose, use it when you remember to, do not double the dosage to make up
for missed dose. Keep it in dark and cool place (refrigerator is fine for storage), be careful to keep it away from children.
- Use hemorrhoids pads to relieve and soothe inflamed area.
-
Use natural hemorrhoids treatment like VenaPro. These are great products and both of these products calm inflamed
hemorrhoids, accelerate healing of damaged tissue, act as a natural anesthetic and relieve the pain, lubricate the colon making
bowel movement more comfortable, restore and improves the blood flow in your rectal area. And all that in form of a pill. It’s
easy to use and it really works.
For best results combine all of the above treatments. Some hemorrhoids treatments work very fast (creams, ointments, suppositories
etc.), and some work a bit slower (oral treatments VenaPro and Avatrol) but provide long-term or even permanent hemorrhoids
relief.
Invasive treatment or hemorrhoids surgery
Using invasive techniques as hemorrhoids treatment is your last resort, should everything else fail, consider one of the options
available. Invasive hemorrhoids treatments can be divided on fixative procedures or non-surgical hemorrhoids treatment (Rubber band
ligation, Infrared photo coagulation, Sclerotherapy injection, Carbon dioxide freezing) and non-fixative or surgical hemorrhoids treatment
(Lord dilatation, Hemorrhoidectomy, Stapled hemorrhoidectomy).
