Hemorrhoids Diet
As we have discussed several times before, high fiber diet is
your #1 treatment for preventing and curing hemorrhoids. Without
changing your lifestyle, particularly diet, you have a very good
chance of hemorrhoids returning to pester you again and again. So
you ask yourself "how can I treat hemorrhoids"?
Hemorrhoids diet is the
best answer, increase water and fiber intake and it will be your
first step in getting rid of hemorrhoids permanently. In this
article we will try to be more specific about just what food you
should include in your diet as hemorrhoids cure and prevention. Pay
attention to food you eat, it is just as important to avoid bad
food.
Western cultures have
lower intake of dietary fiber, which makes diseases like coronary
heart disease, diverticulosis and colorectal tumors quite common.
The fiber content in the diet correlates with the volume and
transit speed of the stool. As you lower the transit time and
increase the volume, the chance of you developing a disease becomes
smaller.
Increase of fiber in
your hemorrhoids diet will also result in a lower of intake of fats
and sugar, which will lead to a weight loss and other substantial
health benefits.
Dietary fiber can be
divided in two groups: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber is
commonly found in apples, citrus, oat bran, pears, peas, beans,
psyllium etc, while insoluble can be found in wheat bran, cabbage,
peas, beans (as you can see these two are full of fiber), root
vegetables like carrots, turnips and potatoes.
A lot of foods contain
both soluble and insoluble fiber, all fruits are excellent fiber
source, berries being the champion among them, vegetables can vary
in fiber amount, beans being the #1 in fiber amount. Fruits and
vegetables are also very important for vitamins and minerals they
supply.
Soluble fiber slows down
the digestion of carbohydrates (sugars), and that result in better
glucose metabolism which is excellent for diabetics, if caught
early diabetes can in some cases be treated with high fiber diet
alone, and for those on insulin it can significantly reduce their
insulin requirements. It is also highly effective in reducing the
blood cholesterol.
Insoluble fiber is our
main interest here, it absorbs and retains water in colon, which
results in large, bulky, soft stool and should be the basis of your
hemorrhoids diet. This result is regular bowel movements and your
constipation will soon be history.
