Natural hemorrhoids treatment

It is very difficult to recommend something like a hemorrhoid treatment during pregnancy. Because every supplement or medication has a potential for side effects (you might be allergic to some of the ingredients, even if they are 100% natural), you must be very careful about what you use.

Always consult your doctor about any treatment, use information such as this as additional information, not as method to diagnose condition by your self!

  • Be extra careful about your diet, try to aim for 25 - 30 grams of fiber daily, a balanced diet will benefit both mother and child (eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, it will also increase your vitamin/mineral intake along with fiber).
  • Drink lots of water (about 6 large glasses per day).
  • Take sitz baths (2-6 times per day, as much as you need, 10 -15 minutes per bath).
  • Go as soon as you feel the urge (very important, don't wait, if you delay your body will absorb fluid from your stool making it much harder to push out, it will also cause unnecessary straining, which you certainly don't need).
  • Exercise, carefully but regularly (Kegel exercises - tense vaginal and rectal muscles, hold for up to 10 seconds and relax, repeat up to 20 - 25 times, it will increase circulation and strengthen vaginal and perianal muscles, which will help you during delivery and in post birth recovery).
  • Cleanse thoroughly but gently, it is best to use shower or a bidet.
  • Use moist wipes containing Witch Hazel (Tucks), for cleansing and soothing.
  • Use natural creams like Zenmed Ziro to soothe and calm affected area.
  • Use ice packs, but be careful not to apply it directly to skin, it could cause frost bite.
  • Avoid prolonged periods of sitting or standing, try to lie down when tired, rest as much as you need, let your husband help.

That's about it, be extra careful about any oral supplement or cure, don't use anything without speaking with your doctor, ask her/him for their advice. Speak with other women, ask them about their experiences, and how they have treated hemorrhoids during pregnancy, but always think about it for your self. If something doesn't sound or feel right just don't do it.
